ATLANTA CAMPUS FIRST-YEAR NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION
Before you arrive at New Student Orientation, complete the steps to prepare, including Start @ State. At the end of Start @ State, you’ll be able to register for a New Student Orientation date. If successfully registered, you will receive a confirmation email to the email address you used to apply to the university. As New Student Orientation nears, keep checking your email for details about check-in location and parking on the day of New Student Orientation.
When you arrive at New Student Orientation, you’ll meet the New Student Orientation staff, who will check you in and give you some Georgia State swag! You’ll then be separated from any guests to experience the day with other new Panthers. Your guests will attend the Atlanta Parent & Family Orientation concurrently.
During orientation, expect to hear from lots of offices around campus. In the past, speakers have represented the Dean of Students Office, Academic Advising, Student Success, College to Career, Student Financial Management and more. This is not an exhaustive list and may vary by date.
You’ll also get a chance to meet New Student Orientation leaders, ask your questions, take a tour of campus and learn more about ways to get involved on campus.
Finally, expect to meet with an academic adviser to register for classes.
New Student Orientation may vary in length based on semester. Students are required to attend ALL of New Student Orientation in order to fulfill orientation requirements.
After orientation, your New Student Orientation hold will be lifted, and you will be registered for classes. You’ll be ready to get your PantherCard, buy books and start classes as a Georgia State Panther!
