ATLANTA CAMPUS PARENT & FAMILY ORIENATION
Before you arrive, your student should complete the steps to prepare for orientation, including Start @ State. At the end of Start @ State, your student will be able to register themselves for a New Student Orientation date. When they register, make sure they add you as a guest attending with them. This will ensure that we have a nametag and materials ready for you when you arrive. Students will receive a confirmation email, plus an email with details regarding check-in location and parking, as New Student Orientation nears.
When you arrive, your student will meet the New Student Orientation staff and complete check-in for all of you. At this time, you’ll receive materials for the day and be separated from your student for the duration of the orientation. Your student will attend the Atlanta First-Year New Student Orientation concurrently.
During orientation, expect to hear from many campus representatives. In the past, speakers have represented the Dean of Students Office, Academic Advising, Student Success, College to Career, Campus Safety, Study Abroad, the Student Financial Management Center and more. This is not an exhaustive list and may vary by date.
You’ll also get a chance to meet New Student Orientation leaders, ask questions about what it’s really like to be a Georgia State student and take a campus tour.
The Parent & Family Orientation is designed to introduce you to all Georgia State offers to support your student and family.
After orientation, you’ll be ready to join the Panther Family Portal, attend Panther Family events and support your student as they begin their journey as a Georgia State Panther!
