Register

Students who are orientation ready are eligible to register for New Student Orientation below.  This means you have received official acceptance to Georgia State University, completed immunization and other university requirements and attended to any financial obligations. Students who are not officially accepted to Georgia State University will not be eligible to register for New Student Orientation. Students may view their admission status to determine if they are ready for orientation.

Please note: There is not a pre-orientation process for students attending orientation for the Perimeter College (two-year) campuses.  Please review all of the information on this page to identify the correct orientation process.

Freshman taking classes on a Georgia State University campus are required to complete orientation on campus. Students should register using their PAWS account. Once logged on:

  • Select the Enrollment tab.
  • Choose Student Orientation and review each link.
  • When finished, select Register for New Student Orientation.

Freshman taking online classes ONLY are required to complete the online New Student Orientation module. The orientation will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Request online advisement at the conclusion of the module to complete orientation. An academic advisor can assist students register for classes.

 

Mail and check payment option: For registration by check or money order, request a mail-in payment form.

Cancellation and refund policy:

Please be aware, students will be charged for any orientation program for which they have completed a registration (online or mail in). To receive a refund after registering for orientation, students must withdraw or cancel their registration at least three full business days prior to their scheduled date.

If students meet the three day withdrawal deadline, the refund will be credited to their student account. The money will not be credited directly back to a credit card or bank account. This refund will remain on students' accounts and be applied to any outstanding fees when tuition and fees are due each enrollment cycle. If tuition and fees are covered completely by other funds, the orientation refund will be mailed to the address on students' files when Student Accounts distributes refund checks each enrollment cycle. If a student withdraws from orientation and does not attend Georgia State University, the refund will be mailed to the student's address on file when Student Accounts distributes refund checks each enrollment cycle.

If a student withdraws or cancels less than three full business days prior to the scheduled orientation date, there is no refund. There are no partial refunds. If a student registers for another day, he or she will need to pay the full registration fee again.

Transfer Students with less than 30 credit hours taking on campus classes are required to complete orientation on campus. Students should register using their PAWS account. Once logged on:

  • Select the Enrollment tab.
  • Choose Student Orientation and review each link.
  • When finished, select Register for New Student Orientation.

Transfer Students with less than 30 credit hours taking online classes ONLY are required to complete the online New Student Orientation module.

  • The orientation will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
  • After completion of the online module, navigate back to the login page and click the link at the bottom of the page to request online advisement.
  • An academic advisor can assist students register for classes.

Transfer Students (with 30 + credit hours) and transient students are required to complete the online New Student Orientation module.

  • The orientation will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
  • Students may proceed to PAWS to register for classes once orientation is completed.
  • Optional: Online students can request online advisement at the conclusion of the module. After completion of the online module, navigate back to the login page and click the link at the bottom of the page to request online advisement.
  • On campus students can contact the University Advisement Center to schedule an appointment for academic advisement.

To change an orientation date, students should not withdraw from an orientation date for which they have already registered. Students who would like to register for a different orientation session whether on a different date or at a different time should fill out the Change Orientation Date form.
