Freshman Convocation
3 – 4 p.m. | Sports Arena

Freshman Convocation is a formal induction ceremony to welcome all new freshmen to Georgia State. Join Dr. Becker as he officially inducts the new freshman class into the campus community through a medallion ceremony and recitation of the Freshman Pledge. Bryan Stevenson, author of “Just Mercy”, which has been selected as the Fall 2017 First-Year Book, will be the keynote speaker. Festivities continue afterward with a Block Party for the Class of 2021 and their families.

This event is mandatory for all freshman students, both residential and commuter. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.  Free parking is available in G Deck and additional parking is available in M Deck for $7 cash.  Dress is business casual.

Panther Welcome Block Party
4 – 6 p.m. | Hurt Park
The Panther Welcome Block Party is an interactive event designed to welcome new students and their parents to campus as well as celebrate the beginning of their college careers.
Where are my classes?
7:30 p.m. | Unity Plaza
Coming to campus in the heart of downtown Atlanta can be confusing. Freshmen and transfer students can meet the Pi Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. at the Pounce statue in Unity Plaza with their course schedules for assistance with locating their classes before the first day of the semester.  They’ll show shortcuts and campus navigation tips to help you get to your classes in the shortest amount of time.
